CE Requirements for
Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling
Only required for licensees holding the LPC-Supervisor (LPC-S) certification; may count within the 40-hour total.
Up to 10 of the 40 hours may be earned through alternative activities: serving as a presenter for a counseling seminar or workshop, publishing peer-reviewed counseling material, or holding office in counseling-related professional organizations (where at least 30 annual service hours are devoted to the role). Ethics CE must be devoted to counseling practice, assessment, supervision, or research; ethics CE for other disciplines does not satisfy this requirement. Licensees must retain CE documentation for 3 years following each renewal cycle. Mandatory random audits cover 10% of LPC renewal applications.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Alabama Licensed Professional Counselor renewal requirements.
