Alaska Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Required topic mix per 12 AAC 18.210(b): 6 contact hours substance abuse education, 6 contact hours cross-cultural education, 3 contact hours professional ethics, 3 contact hours teletherapy practice, and 3 contact hours suicide education. At least 10 contact hours must be earned by attending live, live online, or synchronous training courses; the remainder may be earned through correspondence, prerecorded media, asynchronous instruction, or individual study (12 AAC 18.210(d)). A licensee may not earn more than 12 contact hours in one day (12 AAC 18.210(e)). Up to 3 contact hours of professional ethics credit may be earned each biennium by attending regularly scheduled board meetings (12 AAC 18.210(f)). Clinical supervisors must complete 6 additional contact hours of continuing education in supervision or supervisory practices each biennial licensing period beginning after June 30, 2026 (12 AAC 18.113(2)). First-biennial-renewal licensees who were licensed for fewer than 12 months during the concluding period need only 21 contact hours, with the same topic minimums (12 AAC 18.210(a)(1)(A)). Board pre-approved 'other' courses are capped at 15 contact hours per cycle; first-time-presentation or first-time-publication credit is capped at 10 contact hours each (12 AAC 18.220(b)(7), (8), (9)).
