CE Requirements for
Alaska Board of Pharmacy
Required for pharmacists who administer vaccines or related emergency medications under 12 AAC 52.992; must be ACPE-approved immunization or vaccine continuing education; counts within the biennial continuing education total (12 AAC 52.320(e)).
Renewal under 12 AAC 52.320 requires 30 contact hours of continuing education from ACPE-accredited providers during the concluding licensing period. Pharmacists administering vaccines or related emergency medications under 12 AAC 52.992 must include 1 contact hour of ACPE-approved immunization or vaccine continuing education within the biennial total (12 AAC 52.320(e)). Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association is accepted, capped at 1 contact hour per 24-month period (12 AAC 52.340(a)(2)). First-time renewal under 12 AAC 52.320(c) prorates the requirement to one-half of the standard contact hours for each complete 12 months the applicant was licensed during the concluding period. An applicant unable to meet the requirement due to illness or other extenuating circumstances may apply to the board for an alternative continuing education schedule (12 AAC 52.330). The board audits renewals through the ACPE-NABP CPE Monitor Service (12 AAC 52.350).
