CE Requirements for
Arkansas State Board of Examiners in Counseling
Board-approved supervisors only; at least half of these hours must come from a Board-recognized state association or an Arkansas university-associated workshop or program. Counted in addition to the standard 24 hours.
Counseling in nature and aligned with the licensee's Statement of Intent.
Licensees holding both an LPC and an LMFT still owe 24 clock hours total: three in ethics, with the remaining twenty-one balanced between counseling and MFT content. Academic coursework: fifteen CE clock hours per one credit hour of regionally accredited course work. Presenting at a workshop earns two CE clock hours per one clock hour of initial presentation; teaching a new course or publishing a journal article or book is worth ten CE clock hours. Professional leadership service at state, regional, or national associations is worth ten CE clock hours. Arkansas Volunteer Health Care Act service converts at one CE clock hour per eight clock hours of volunteer service. Up to one-third of license file numbers may be audited each year; documentation must be retained for the 24 months preceding renewal. Non-practicing status is available for retirement, illness, military deployment, or other extenuating circumstances. If a licensee falls short of the required hours, a passing national-exam score (NCE, NCMHCE, or AMFTRB) substitutes for the deficit.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Arkansas Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist renewal requirements.
