CE Requirements for
Dental Hygiene Board of California
Mandatory courses must be taken from a provider holding a Dental Board of California Registered CE Provider Permit Number; HIPAA courses do not satisfy the California Dental Practice Act requirement, and OSHA or bloodborne pathogens courses do not satisfy Infection Control. Basic Life Support certification must include a live, in-person skills practice session, a skills test, and a written examination; fully online BLS courses are not accepted. Correspondence and self-study courses are capped at 50 percent of the required units. Holders of a Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) license complete a higher continuing education requirement; dual licensure does not require duplicating continuing education.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your California Registered Dental Hygienist renewal requirements.
