CE Requirements for
Florida Board of Nursing
Must be approved by AMA, ANCC, AANA, or AANP. Not waived by certification exemption.
Required every other renewal cycle. Counted toward the 24 required hours — not in addition to them.
Required every third biennium. In addition to the 24 required hours — not counted toward them.
One-time requirement prior to first renewal only.
At least 10 hours must be NP or graduate-level courses from an approved nursing specialty board.
Temporary licensees: CE is pro-rated at 1 hour per month the license is held. Certified APRNs are exempt from most topics except Controlled Substances Prescribing (3 hrs) and Human Trafficking (2 hrs).
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Florida Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Temporary renewal requirements.
