CE Requirements for
Florida Board of Medicine
Required every other renewal (every biennial cycle). Counted toward the 100 general hours — not in addition to them. Must be from a Board-approved Medical Errors provider.
Required every third biennial cycle. Counted toward the 100 general hours — not in addition to them.
One-time requirement prior to first renewal only.
Minimum 50 of 100 total hours must be AMA Category I CME; remaining 50 may be Category II.
A current NCCPA certificate satisfies the 100 general CME hours — mandatory topic courses (Medical Errors, HIV/AIDS for first renewal, Domestic Violence when due) must still be completed separately. Prescribing physician assistants must also complete 10 additional hours per biennium in the specialty area of their supervising physician, including 3 hours on controlled substance prescribing. Up to 5 hours per biennium may be earned through pro-bono services in critical need areas.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Florida Physician Assistants renewal requirements.
