CE Requirements for
Hawaii Board of Psychology
First-time licensees are exempt from the continuing education requirement for their first license renewal (HRS 465-11(d)). Effective July 1, 2026, associate psychologists licensed under HRS 465-7.2 are also exempt from the CE requirement for their first license renewal. A licensee seeking renewal without full CE compliance may submit a notarized affidavit explaining the reasons for noncompliance and request an extension, provided that the licensee then completes thirty-six hours of CE for the next biennium. Grounds for extension include practice in an isolated geographic area without CE opportunities and incapacity, undue hardship, or other serious extenuating circumstances. The board may conduct random audits; selected licensees have sixty days from notification to provide documentation of compliance. Licensees must maintain their own CE records.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Hawaii Licensed Psychologist renewal requirements.
