CE Requirements for
Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Social Work Examining and Disciplinary Board
Required once every 6 years (every 3 renewal cycles).
Required once during licensure for all licensed clinical social workers; due by the renewal period ending November 30, 2027.
First-renewal exemption: continuing education is not required for the first renewal of an LSW or LCSW license. Online and remote courses are acceptable when delivered through an IDFPR-approved CE sponsor; out-of-state in-person courses from unapproved sponsors require IDFPR approval via the Out-of-State CE program application.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker renewal requirements.
