CE Requirements for
Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Marriage and Family Therapist Licensing and Disciplinary Board
Required once every 6 years (every 3 renewal cycles).
First-renewal exemption: continuing education is not required for the first renewal of an LMFT license. Associate LMFT licenses cannot be renewed and have no CE requirement. Online and remote courses are acceptable when delivered through an IDFPR-approved CE sponsor; distance-learning courses must include an examination. Out-of-state in-person courses from unapproved sponsors require IDFPR approval via the Out-of-State CE program application.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Illinois Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist renewal requirements.
