CE Requirements for
Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Professional Counselor Licensing and Disciplinary Board
Required once every 6 years (every 3 renewal cycles).
Required once during licensure for Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) only; due by the second renewal.
First-renewal exemption: continuing education is not required for the first renewal of an LPC or LCPC license. The Clinical Supervision Training applies to Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) only; LPCs without the LCPC tier are not required to complete it. Online and remote courses are acceptable when delivered through an IDFPR-approved CE sponsor; out-of-state in-person courses from unapproved sponsors require IDFPR approval via the Out-of-State CE program application.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Illinois Licensed Professional Counselor renewal requirements.
