At least twenty hours must focus on clinical skills and knowledge; the remaining ten hours may cover business operations, practice management, volunteer clinical work, or dental association meetings. At least ten hours must be in a live interactive presentation format (in-person or live teleconference). CPR certification must be maintained but does not count toward the thirty-hour total. Recent graduates licensed during the renewal year are exempt from CE before that renewal; those licensed during the non-renewal year complete fifteen hours before renewal. Public Health Registered Dental Hygienists complete nine hours total (six public health, three medical emergencies) to maintain Public Health registration. Certificates of completion must include provider verification, licensee name, course title, date, hours, and method of delivery; retain for five years.
