CE Requirements for
Kentucky Board of Dentistry
Required of all licensed dentists; counts toward the thirty-hour total.
Required of dentists holding a board-issued moderate sedation, deep sedation, or general anesthesia permit; clinical CE in a classroom setting per 2-year permit term; in addition to the thirty-hour total.
At least ten of the thirty hours must be in a live interactive presentation format (in-person or live teleconference where the licensee may participate and ask questions). Recent graduates licensed during the renewal year are exempt from CE before first renewal; those licensed during the non-renewal year complete fifteen hours before renewal. Sedation/anesthesia permit holders must additionally maintain ACLS (adult) or PALS (pediatric) certification; a single four-hour sedation course suffices for multiple permit types. Acceptable CE content includes treating medically compromised patients, pharmaceuticals, oral pathology diagnosis, infection control, basic medical and scientific subjects, clinical and technological topics, patient management and safety, mass casualty response, and business operations. Certificates of completion must include provider verification, licensee name, course title, date, hours, and method of delivery; retain for five years.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Kentucky Dentist renewal requirements.
