CE Requirements for
Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors
Required within the first three years after initial licensure and at least one time every six years thereafter; counts toward the ten-hour annual total.
Required at least one time every three years; covers KRS 335.500 through 335.599 and 201 KAR Chapter 36; counts toward the ten-hour annual total.
Required of licensees within three years after initial licensure; complete one time; counts toward the ten-hour annual total.
201 KAR 36:030 governs CE for LPC, LPCC, and LPCA tiers; all three carry the same ten-hour annual requirement and the same mandatory subject topics. Board-approved supervisor training under 201 KAR 36:065 §1(3) may count toward the ten hours when the licensee is delivering the training. Distance counseling is governed by 201 KAR 36:045 (not a CE topic but a practice standard). A person receiving an initial license within 120 days prior to October 31 is not required to renew until October 31 of the following year.
