Required at least one time every two-year renewal cycle; in addition to the National Component CE hours.
Required one time after obtaining KBEMS certification or licensure; in addition to the National Component CE hours.
Kentucky uses the NREMT National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) 2025 National Component for the continuing education requirement. Current NREMT certification in good standing satisfies the requirement as an alternative. Online courses must be CAPCE accredited if not taken through a KBEMS-approved education entity. KRS 311A.120 also requires HIV/AIDS Awareness (one time only), Pediatric Abusive Head Trauma, and Awareness of Sexual Violence trainings — Board does not specify minimum hours for these three trainings; completion of the KBEMS-approved free online courses satisfies each requirement. Advanced Practice Paramedic endorsements (Community, Wilderness, Critical Care, Flight, Tactical) require either current IBSC specialty certification or fifty additional CE in IBSC-defined topic areas per 202 KAR 7:410.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Kentucky Paramedic renewal requirements.
