CE Requirements for
Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
Required one time before first license renewal; LSBME-administered orientation course on Louisiana athletic trainer laws and rules, delivered through CE Broker; in addition to the 12 annual continuing education hours.
Authority: La. Admin. Code tit. 46, §§ XLV.3155 (annual expiration on June 30), 3157 (annual renewal), 3159 and 3165 (annual BOC-approved continuing education), 3171 (BOC and LATA presumptively approved), and 3175 (record retention). BOC and LATA are presumptively approved CE sponsors; the board may approve additional providers on recommendation of the CE subcommittee under §3171.B. Athletic trainers must retain a record or certificate of attendance for at least four years from the date of each qualifying CE activity (§3175). The board does not specify hours for the Laws and Rules for Athletic Trainers orientation course; LSBME administers it as a free one-time prerequisite required before first renewal (Board Orientations and Online Courses page). The board does not address whether the annual CE may be completed online; confirm online-format acceptability with LSBME before completing CE.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Louisiana Athletic Trainer renewal requirements.
