CE Requirements for
Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners
Required one time before first license renewal under LSBME policy; LSBME-administered orientation course delivered through the board's CE tracking portal; in addition to the 15 annual continuing professional education hours.
Authority: La. Admin. Code tit. 46, §§ XLV.2151 (CE hours), 2153 (acceptable content), 2157 (documentation), 2159 (failure-to-satisfy). LSBME Annual CE Requirements by Practitioner Group sheet (rev. April 2026) lists NCBAHM as the named CE sponsor for non-physician acupuncturists. LSBME §2159 grants a sixty-day grace period after notice for licensees who fail the CE requirement; the license expires only if compliance is not evidenced or good cause shown within that period. Licensees must retain CE documentation per the format and method specified by the board (§2157); the documentation must accompany the annual renewal application. The Laws and Rules for Acupuncturists orientation course is a free LSBME-administered prerequisite required before first renewal (per the LSBME Board Orientations and Online Courses page); the board does not specify a minimum hours value for the orientation. Report completions through the LSBME-designated CE tracking portal.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Louisiana Licensed Acupuncturist renewal requirements.
