CE Requirements for
Maine Board of Examiners of Psychologists
Required once during licensure under 32 M.R.S. §3835 (effective January 1, 2020). These hours count toward the total.
Continuing education governed by Board Rules 02-415 CMR Chapter 8 (Continuing Professional Education). License renews annually on April 30 per Chapter 3 §4, but continuing education is due at the second renewal in each even-numbered year under Chapter 8 §1(1) — the biennial CE cycle drives the deadline relevant to licensees. Format: televised or interactive instruction and established distance learning programs are eligible without a numeric cap under Chapter 8 §2(1)(B); commercially prepared self-study is eligible under §2(1)(C). Activity cap: developmental credit (manuscript review, curriculum development, and similar) is limited to ten contact hours per biennium under Chapter 8 §2(2)(A). Approved sponsors: the board may pre-approve continuing education from sponsors whose past offerings have consistently conformed to the approval criteria; the board publishes an updated approved-sponsor list at the start of each biennium. Audit retention: certificates of participation, transcripts, approval evidence, and supporting materials must be retained for at least three biennia under Chapter 8 §5.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Maine Licensed Psychologist renewal requirements.
