Maine does not require continuing education for active RN license renewal. The Maine Board of Nursing's rule chapters (02-380 CMR Chapters 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 21) include no continuing education chapter for the basic RN tier, and Title 32 M.R.S. §2206 imposes no statutory hour requirement. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) carry separate continuing education obligations under Chapter 8 and are not addressed by this record. License expiration: every 2 years on or before the licensee's birthday per the Maine Board of Nursing FAQ; renewal is exclusively online via the ALMS licensure system since January 1, 2020.
