CE Requirements for
Massachusetts Board of Registration of Social Workers
Required once during licensure per 258 CMR 31.03(4); credit counts toward the total for the cycle in which the training is taken.
Massachusetts licenses four social work tiers (LICSW, LCSW, LSW, LSWA); this record covers the LCSW (Licensed Certified Social Worker) mid-tier. Licensees employed exclusively by state, county, or municipal government are exempt from CE under 258 CMR 31.03(2). First-cycle CE prorates by quarter of initial licensure per 258 CMR 31.03(3). Up to twenty-five percent of credit may come from APA, NBCC, NHA, ANCC, or ACCME approved programs; the remaining seventy-five percent must come from a recognized entity under 258 CMR 31.04(2). Records must be maintained for two consecutive licensure periods.
CE courses from providers approved by these accreditors count toward your Massachusetts Licensed Certified Social Worker renewal requirements.
